Suggested Picnic Venues

The following represents a short list of venues that are available for your upcoming summer event.

 

bruceBruce’s Mill Conservation Area

Description: Bruce's Mill Conservation Area takes its name from a restored water-powered mill on a tributary of the Rouge River. Bruce's Mill is a great place to spend a summer day. There's something for everyone, including a playground, a baseball diamond and soccer field.

Location: Located between Warden Rd. and Kennedy Rd. If you are traveling on the 404, take the Stouffville Road exit and head east on Stouffville Road.

Directions/Map

Bruce's Mill Conservation Area is just twenty minutes north of Toronto, Stouffville Road, east of Highway 404.

 

 

 


boydBoyd Conservation Area

Description

Boyd Conservation Area is an oasis at the edge of the city. The steep-sided Humber River Valley and tall trees offer a quiet refuge where you can relax and enjoy the outdoors. It's hard to believe that this lush area of grass, forest and nature trails is right next door. Discover what Boyd has to offer.

Boyd is a beautiful facility that enjoys the reputation of being a premiere picnic location. Reserve one of 19 picnic sites for your company barbecue, family reunion or group function. Several of the picnic sites have shelters available. Book your site early to avoid disappointment.

Boyd Conservation Area is located on Islington Ave, north of Highway 7.

 


heartHeart Lake Conservation Area

Description

This Conservation Area takes its name from the lake which is the focus of much of the activity here. Heart Lake is a naturally occurring kettle lake - a legacy of the last glacial age in Southern Ontario. The dense forest surrounding the lake makes you feel like you're hours from the city, even though you're only minutes away!

Activities

There is no shortage of things to do at Heart Lake:

  • Spend the day on the sandy beach
  • Swim in the lake
  • Fish - Heart Lake is stocked with fish reared in our hatchery at Glen Haffy Conservation Area
  • Hike on more than eight kilometers of scenic nature trails
  • Rent a paddle-boat or row-boat and enjoy a lazy summer's day on the lake

Heart Lake Conservation Area is located 15 minutes west of Toronto, on Heart Lake Road.

 

kortriteKortright Centre

With its breathtaking views and central location, the Kortright Centre has become a very popular place for corporate events. When you choose the Kortright Centre for your event your guests will enjoy exclusive use of the facilities, its two large open areas and its eight hundred acres of parkland. This venue has indoor facilities as well as outdoor and the park enjoys the rare privilege of an outdoor sound permit.

Although the capacity of the visitor's centre is 175 people, a larger event can be hosted by simply setting a tent up on the flat ground adjacent to the visitor's centre.

petticoatPetticoat Creek Conservation Area

Description: Petticoat Creek Conservation Area is located on the shores of Lake Ontario and offers an incredible view of the bluffs. The centre piece of the Area is a 1.5-acre supervised swimming pool - the largest outdoor pool in Ontario - where you can escape the summer heat. Change rooms and a refreshment booth are part of the pool complex, and a playground is conveniently located nearby. If your picnic is heating up, take a dip in the pool, enjoy the mild breeze off Lake Ontario or enjoy a leisurely walk on the waterfront trail.

Petticoat Creek Conservation Area is located at 1100 Whites Road. Directions: Take Hwy. 401 East to Whites Road exit. (Take Whites Road south for 1km.)

Petticoat Creek is located 10 minutes from Toronto on Whites Road, Pickering.

Albion Hills Conservation Area

Description

Ontario's first Conservation Area, Albion Hills is set in the Caledon Hills on the banks of the Humber River. The 446-hectare park is the outdoor enthusiast's dream! Whether your group prefers to swim, fish, bird watch or hike, you can do it all at Albion Hills. The park has amenities for everyone including playgrounds for the kids, a sandy beach, volleyball and badminton courts, horseshoe pits and boat rentals.

Albion Hills Chalet

This facility offers 1800 sq. feet of space with high wooden ceilings, a large deck and a panoramic view of the forest. It is a great alternative to a board room. There are large kitchen facilities available and all of the beautiful outdoor features of the park are right outside.

Directions/Map

Albion Hills is just 40 minutes northwest of Toronto and offers excellent highway access to all major Toronto area attractions.

Albion Hills is located in Caledon at 16500 Hwy. 50, just 8km north of Bolton.
